Job Duties


Works under the general direction of the Emergency Preparedness Director to plan, coordinate and independently conduct studies and projects relating to the occurrence of disease, health conditions, or other situations in a defined population. Incumbents independently coordinate and perform disease control and prevention activities including surveillance, contract tracing, analysis, observation, hypothesis testing, analytical research, and experiments to determine the cause and source, or trends of disease and other health-related events. 

 

  • Work on outbreak surveillance and provide backup for case investigations.
  • Facilitates the use of research data to improve existing programs and the utilization of resources.
  • Identify data and information which suggest developing patterns of problems or concerns, from which general or specific trends and patterns can be discerned, suggesting a need for further investigation.


Work Schedule


  • Monday thru Thursday 7:30-5:30, Friday from 8-5 with every other Friday off, this is NOT a remote position


Minimum Qualifications


Education and Experience: Graduation from college with a bachelor's degree in epidemiology, public health, health care, health science, registered nurse (RN) or a related field. 


Preferred Qualifications


Master’s degree in public health with an emphasis in epidemiology 


     AND


One (1) year of experience designing, conducting, analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating epidemiological studies with an emphasis or specialization in Epidemiology.


     OR


An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment


May be required to stay at or return to work during public health incidents and/or emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normally assigned duties during the incident and/or emergency.
