We are searching for the best talent for Senior Director, Health Economics & Market Access (HEMA) – Biosurgery & Regional, to be located in Raritan, NJ.

Purpose: Johnson & Johnson MedTech Surgery is recruiting a Senior Director, Health Economics & Market Access (HEMA) to lead global market access and evidence strategy for the Biosurgery platform while also providing regional HEMA leadership. This role will shape global value strategies, ensure strong regional execution, and lead a high-performing team of HEMA professionals.

Reporting to the Global Head of Strategy for MedTech Surgery, this leader will work cross‑functionally with R&D, Clinical, Medical Affairs, Global Strategic Marketing, Regulatory, and Regional Commercial teams to accelerate access, adoption, and commercial success.

You will be responsible for:

Platform Leadership – Biosurgery

• Lead integrated global HEMA strategy, ensuring alignment with clinical, regulatory, and commercial planning.

• Assess payer needs, market trends, and evidence requirements to guide development, launch readiness, and lifecycle planning.

• Drive global value proposition development and ensure payer/provider insights are embedded into Target Product Profiles and evidence generation plans.

Regional Leadership & Market Access Execution

• Provide senior leadership for the regional HEMA organization, ensuring alignment between global strategy and local market needs.

• Oversee regional market access execution including HTA engagement, reimbursement strategy, regional value messaging, and evidence requirements.

• Ensure regional payer insights inform global priorities, clinical design, and value communication.

Evidence Generation & Value Communication

• Lead global evidence generation strategies including economic modeling, real‑world data analyses, retrospective database studies, and outcomes research.

• Oversee development of global value dossiers, pricing input, and value-based program recommendations.

• Partner with clinical teams to define HEMA endpoints in clinical studies and ensure evidence meets payer expectations across major markets.

People Leadership

• Lead, develop, and inspire a sizable global/regional HEMA team, building capabilities across evidence, analytics, modeling, and payer strategy.

• Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture and ensure strong alignment across regions and platforms.

Cross-Functional & Enterprise Leadership

• Represent payer/provider needs and health policy trends across business unit and platform teams.

• Serve as a senior advisor to R&D, Clinical, Medical Affairs, Marketing, Regulatory, Business Development, HCC, and Legal.

• Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and governance for the Surgery HEMA organization.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Advanced degree (MS, MPH, PhD, MHA, MBA) in health economics, outcomes research, public health, or related field.

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in healthcare (MedTech strongly preferred).

• Proven leadership experience managing medium-to-large teams.

• Strong technical expertise in health economics, reimbursement, evidence generation, and health policy.

• Experience developing and executing global and regional market access strategies, including HTA processes.

• Demonstrated ability to lead in a matrixed environment and influence senior stakeholders.

Preferred

• Regional market access leadership experience.

• Proficiency in economic modeling, outcomes research, and analytical methods including exposure to AI/ML/IA-based techniques.

• Experience leading research from concept through publication.

• Global experience across major markets.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$196,000.00 - $342,700.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).



This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.



Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days

Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year

Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
