Primary Purpose: The Vatanparast Nutritional Epidemiology Lab (VNELab) is seeking a talented and enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow to support in the facilitation of an ongoing randomized controlled trial (RCT), graduate student supervision, and knowledge dissemination within the VNELab. Nature of Work: The RCT focuses on providing a dietary intervention (milk or yogurt) to investigate the effects of fermented and non-fermented dairy on bone health, body composition, and gut health. The RCT engages young adults for two years and requires in-person data collection at 3 time points over the study. The selected candidate will need to coordinate dairy purchase orders and be present for in-person data collection; thus, living in Saskatoon (or being willing to commute from neighbouring towns) is necessary. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to participant recruitment and management, data collection, RCT management, statistical analysis, report writing and dissemination, compliance with USask’s research ethics board, engagement in grant writing, and other leadership activities within the VNELab. Accountabilities: The PDF will report directly to Dr. Hassan Vatanparast but will work collaboratively within the dynamic leadership team of the VNELab. The selected candidate will be expected to play a leadership role within the lab, providing training and guidance to junior lab members and contributing to ongoing work to advance the lab. Education: PhD completed within the last 5 years. Preferably within the field of nutrition or public health nutrition. Experience: The selected candidate should have experience conducting randomized controlled trials. Being a Canadian or internationally recognized registered dietitian would be viewed as an asset. Skills: The selected candidate should have the skills and experience necessary to coordinate a complex research project, supervise graduate students and research assistants, and lead a team effectively. Desirable soft skills include efficient and clear communication, the ability to work in a team and independently, creative thinking, and on-the-spot problem solving. To Apply: Interested candidates must submit via email a cover letter (with a statement of purpose), curriculum vitae (including contact details for at least three references) to vnel@usask.ca.
