Description

Position Objective: Provide epidemiology, surveillance, research, and field investigation support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Coronavirus and Other Respiratory Viruses Division (CORVD) by coordinating data collection/analysis, producing actionable insights, and communicating results to CDC teams and partners.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate collection, management, and analysis of investigation/surveillance data.
  • Develop/revise study protocols, questionnaires, and data collection instruments.
  • Conduct epidemiologic analyses using SAS, R, or equivalent; write/troubleshoot code.
  • Clean data; build reports; develop dashboards/visualizations.
  • Support IRB-related activities as needed and maintain data security/confidentiality.
  • Prepare slides, tables, figures, and written products for CDC audiences and publications.
  • Communicate analytic results clearly to CDC staff and external partners.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of demonstrated experience supporting epidemiology/surveillance work (preferably public health)
  • Bachelor's degree in public health or related field
  • Ability to analyze and report on complex datasets using statistical software (e.g., SAS or R)
  • Ability to work effectively with CDC staff across multiple organizational levels
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required CDC/HHS suitability (Public Trust) and comply with CDC information security/privacy requirements

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with clinical data
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools
  • Ability to perform in a public health emergency response environment
  • Strong organizational skills, proofreading, and professional communication etiquette
  • Strong written communication skills for reports/briefings and strong attention to detail
