Epidemiology

This position is a temporary position that will run from approximately September 1, 2025 - November 1, 2025. This is subject to change based on the needs of the agency and funding.


Position Summary:

The Epidemiologist will investigate patterns and causes of chronic and infectious disease, injury, and other community health problems, conduct surveillance activities, compile and analyze findings, and prepare reports and mitigation recommendations for both community partners and the general public. The epidemiologist will use a variety of public health databases, and collaborate with entities including, but not limited to healthcare agencies, long term care facilities, school districts, community partners, and the general public. The respective position will design data collection instruments where appropriate, and link findings or hypotheses to previously-documented peer-reviewed or practice-based evidence when available.  This position is approximately 24 hours per week.


Essential Duties:



  • Collects, validates, analyzes, and identifies health data trends

  • Generates reports internally, and for community partners and the general public
  • Assists in the development and identification of data collection and analysis tools and methodologies

  • Conducts reviews of peer-reviewed literature, practice-based evidence, and health policies

  • Maintains, manages, and protects confidential information in accordance with HIPAA

  • Participates in quality improvement activities
  • Leads public health communicable disease and outbreak investigations and surveillance activities for Geauga County in accordance with the Infectious Disease Control Manual (IDCM), and ensures all Ohio notifiable infectious disease reports are submitted in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with the Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) using the Ohio Disease Reporting System (ODRS)


Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree in health policy, public health, epidemiology, or an equivalent field required.


Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or an equivalent field preferred.

At least 3 years experience reporting on infectious disease and use of applicable State and Federal reporting systems.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite Required. 


Proficiency with statistical analysis software such of SPSS, Qualtrics, and ArcGIS preferred. 

Experience developing dashboards with data visualization software preferred

Must have a valid Driver's License
