Job Summary

Job Description

  • Acts as liaison for the Bureau of Infectious Disease (BID) Immunization Program (IP) on all epidemiologic activities.
  • Serves as technical data expert for emergency vaccine response.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with epidemiologists, program managers, analysts, physicians, and health professionals to design, implement, and evaluate disease prevention, investigation, and surveillance and control strategies as it relates to vaccines.
  • Analyzes, interprets, and monitors vaccination data by conducting surveillance activities via LINKS - Immunization Information System and other data systems to provide feedback on data quality and prepare reports.
  • Plans and provides consultation to implement new or innovative disease surveillance, prevention, and control as it relates to vaccines.
  • Investigates applicability of combining new data sources and tools, with traditional epidemiological methods to evaluate vaccination data in relation to program priorities.
  • Ensures data systems serve as comprehensive linked public health information systems and leverage data linkages to enable identification of risk groups and prioritization of targeted interventions for immunizations.
  • Identify and fill gaps of existing data platforms and passive immunization surveillance system.
  • Utilize tools and methodologies to improve automation, data linkage, and knowledge transfer related to vaccines and vaccine-preventable diseases.
  • Assists with the maintenance and enhancement of current surveillance system processes for vaccines, including LINKS – the statewide Immunization Information System.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with physicians and health care providers to enhance disease surveillance activities in the areas of vaccination reporting, and assures complete and accurate reporting information.
  • Prepares and maintains confidential protected health information records, collects, documents and verifies pertinent medical data from patients, physicians, and medical facilities.
  • Monitors, processes, and analyzes collected surveillance data for trends at local/regional/state level; prepares statistical reports for state and national database, grant reports, and routine requests for vaccination information to general public and health care community.
  • Characterizes problems identified from collected data and make recommendation for the implementation of vaccine prevention measures.
  • Assists with disease outbreak investigation on behalf of the Immunization Program in collaboration with and under the guidance of the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Program.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or Associate’s degree plus 3 years of professional experience, or 6 years of professional work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience performing administrative functions within an office environment or health care field.
  • Minimum 1 year professional epidemiology experience.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Great attention to detail and follow up.
  • Ability to manage projects, assignments, and competing priorities.
  • Proficient in the use of Zoom, Teams, and Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel.
     

DESIRED:

  • Advanced degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years professional experience performing administrative functions within an office environment or health care field.
  • Minimum 2 years professional epidemiology experience.
  • Minimum 1 year professional experience with statistical analysis packages (SAS and/or STATA or R)
  • Relevant industry certifications.
