POSITION OVERVIEW SECTION

The employee shall provide subject matter expertise to USAFSAM Department of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM/FE), Aerospace Medicine Studies and Analysis Division (FES). FES provides the data center and subject matter expert consultative support hub for the USAF Operational Support Team and True North + initiatives, aerospace and operational clinical psychology consultation to optimize performance and assist in injury/decrement recovery, and the capability for USAFSAM and the USAF Medical Service to conduct and administer Aerospace and Operational Medicine Enterprise (AOME) data analytics. The Aeromedical Analytic Consultation Data Cell will provide operational medicine and human performance surveillance support on a variety of operational, readiness, human performance, and health outcomes as well as program evaluation and effectiveness analysis for programs within the operational or human performance domains.

Essential Job Functions

  • Designing & Leading Data Analysis
    • Analyze military health, personnel, and operational records
    • Evaluate programs related to human performance, readiness, and operational outcomes.
  • Data Management & Integration
    • Retrieve and integrate data across systems
    • Collect and map data from various databases; define data architecture and dictionary
  • Reporting & Communication
    • Draft and present technical reports and presentations
    • Support knowledge transfer through briefings and documentation
  • Statistical & Analytical Modeling
    • Perform statistical analyses using SAS/SAS EG
    • Assist in developing and validating statistical models
  • Collaboration & Consultation
    • Work with stakeholders and leadership to define effective strategies
    • Participate in interdisciplinary planning and serve as an expert in health statistics
  • Tools & Systems Familiarity
    • Gain and maintain familiarity with Air Force data systems and repositories
    • Acquire necessary data access permissions and follow HIPAA regulations
  • Conference & Publication Support
    • Prepare materials and support scientific dissemination

Qualifications

Minimum Position Requirements

  • Education:
    • Master's or PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, Data Science, or a similar field (1
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years in statistical analysis within healthcare or military settings (
    • Experience designing and leading operational studies
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Microsoft Office, SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide, Adobe Acrobat
    • Ability to learn tools like Tableau, Python, R, SAS Viya, and Qualtrics
  • Communication & Project Management:
    • Strong writing/editing of reports, papers, and presentations
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage complex projects (
    • Deliver high-quality products with minimal revision required
  • Compliance:
    • Must complete HIPAA training
    • NDA required prior to performance start

Highly Desired Qualifications

  • PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or similar field
  • Public Health board certification for MPH candidates
  • 7+ years in health analytics and experience with DoD/USAF data.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience over a data/technical team.
