The Catherine Cutler Institute at the University of Southern Maine, in partnership with the Maine CDC, is seeking a Research Associate II: Epidemiologist.
The Research Associate II (RAII) carries out a full range of complex epidemiologic and surveillance activities, with a focus on Chronic Disease, Maternal and Child Health, and/or Injury. The RAII works with the University of Southern Maine (USM) Disease Prevention Epidemiology (DP Epi) team, a team of epidemiologists dedicated to building epidemiology capacity at USM and the Maine CDC (the state’s health department).
The RAII provides epidemiology and subject matter expertise to state, federal, and local partners.
The RAII is responsible for creating, implementing, and sustaining systems for public health surveillance for the Maine CDC. This includes championing work on measuring health disparities and social determinants of health, as well as assessing the burden and trends of health-related outcomes, including morbidity, mortality, natality, exposures, and risk factors in the general population and among sub-populations. The RA II will lead and collaborate on epidemiologic studies in program-specific areas with Maine CDC programs and other local, state, and federal partners. The RA II will train other staff members to improve data visualization and other analytic skills such as data management, complex sample survey data analysis, and documentation.
This is a grant funded position with a starting annual salary up to $73,312. This is a hybrid remote position, with in-office days at the Maine CDC building in Augusta.
