The Future Talent Program at Exact Sciences offers 12-week internships that provide meaningful project experience within the Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) department. These internships are designed to support both personal and professional growth, while giving students the opportunity to explore whether a career at Exact Sciences aligns with their long-term aspirations.

As an HEOR Intern, you will work alongside experienced team members in a collaborative, innovative environment where “We are one Exact team” is more than a phrase—it’s how we operate every day. By the end of the internship, you will gain a solid understanding of how HEOR drives evidence generation and informs value-based healthcare decisions.
 

Position Overview
The intern will support the HEOR economic modeling team within Medical Affairs. This role involves contributing to the development and application of in-house mathematical and economic models aimed at quantifying and communicating the value of Cologuard®, Exact Sciences’ flagship colorectal cancer screening test, to patients, providers, payers, and policymakers.

This position is remote (US-only).
 

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and run simulation models and conduct cost-effectiveness analysis in script language (e.g., python).

  • Ability to develop and complete innovative projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Influence teams through presentation of simulated economic outcomes.

  • Willing and able to learn new technologies on the job.

  • Apply strong communication skills, including verbal, writing, and presentation.

  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.

  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.

  • Regular and reliable attendance.

  • Ability to communicate complex analytical results to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.


Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD student in quantitatively oriented disciplines such as HEOR, mathematical epidemiology, applied mathematics, Industrial Engineering, or operations research.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge with python (e.g., using cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Databricks), git, statistical methodologies and tools, mathematical optimization, simulation, and time-series analysis.

  • Working experience of cost-effectiveness analysis.

  • Working knowledge of statistics and modeling techniques.

  • Strong record of research publications in peer-reviewed journals

Salary Range:

$35,000.00 - $56,000.00

 

The annual base salary shown is a national range for this position on a full-time basis, and may differ based on the hiring location.
