Description
Supervises and evaluates Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS) staff to ensure timely follow-up and management of all reportable sexually transmitted diseases (STDβs) occurring in the community.
Management Scope: Supervises generally four (4) to eight (8) non-exempt staff members.
Responsibilities
1. Supervises and evaluates team staff and ensures that interviewing, counseling and partner notification skills are developed to enhance intervention.
2. Analyzes workloads for training needs, provides guidance and direction, and initiates disciplinary actions, as required.
3. Completes reports as required by the county, state and other applicable agencies.
4. Assists in establishing objectives for the program, and develops and coordinates disease intervention services for the team.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Experience and Training:
Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelorβs degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Social Science, Health, or in a job related field of study. Three (3) years of professional work related experience, including one (1) year supervisory experience.
Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess a valid Texas driverβs license, with a good driving record, and reliable transportation.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Standard office environment. Ability to travel to various work site locations.
